Description
Soft, chewy, and packed with rich chocolate flavor, these cream cheese chocolate chip cookies are the perfect treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon kosher or sea salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup full-fat cream cheese, softened
- ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup bittersweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat softened butter, cream cheese, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
4. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until just combined.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until no flour streaks remain.
6. Fold in both semi-sweet and bittersweet chocolate chips with a spatula.
7. Scoop dough using a 1.5-tablespoon cookie scoop and place on baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly soft.
9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes to 24 hours enhances flavor and texture. For variations, add chopped nuts, white chocolate, spices like cinnamon, or sprinkles. Use full-fat block cream cheese for best results. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
