Description
Whip up this incredibly refreshing and easy Creamy Brazilian Lemonade in just minutes! It’s a zesty, frothy, and sweet drink made by blending whole limes with sweetened condensed milk.
Ingredients
- 4 fresh, medium-sized limes
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups cold water
- 2–4 tablespoons white sugar, optional, to taste
- Ice cubes, for serving
Instructions
1. Prep Your Limes: First, give your limes a good scrub under running water. Slice off the hard, knobby ends of each lime. Then, cut each lime into about eight small wedges.
2. The First Blend: Toss all the lime wedges into your blender. Pour in the 4 cups of cold water to join them.
3. Pulse, Don’t Pulverize!: Secure the lid and pulse the blender only 4 to 5 times for a total of 10-15 seconds. You just want to break up the limes to release their juice and oils, not pulverize the bitter white pith.
4. Strain for Smoothness: Immediately pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or sieve into a pitcher. Use the back of a spoon to gently press on the lime pulp to squeeze out all that delicious liquid. Discard the solids left in the strainer.
5. Clean the Blender: Give your blender a quick rinse with water. This simple step removes any bitter bits of pith that might be clinging to the sides.
6. The Creamy Mix: Pour the strained lime liquid from the pitcher back into your clean blender. Pour in the entire can of sweetened condensed milk and optional sugar.
7. Blend to Perfection: Blend everything on high for about 30 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth, a beautiful pale green color, and has a wonderful, frothy layer on top.
8. Serve Immediately!: This drink is at its best when it’s fresh. Fill tall glasses with plenty of ice and pour your delicious creamy Brazilian lemonade over the top. Garnish with a lime wheel and enjoy.
Notes
Tropical Fusion: Add 1/2 cup of frozen fruit like mango or pineapple during the final blend.
Coconut Version: Replace half the water with coconut water or add 1/4 cup of coconut milk.
Cocktail Version: Add 1/2 cup of cachaça or white rum during the final blend.
