Description
Shake up a delicious spicy mango margarita! This vibrant recipe blends sweet mango, zesty lime, and a perfect spicy kick. Easy to make for any occasion.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons Tequila Blanco
1 tablespoon Orange Liqueur
6 tablespoons Mango Nectar or Fresh Mango Puree
2 tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice
2 tablespoons Jalapeño Simple Syrup
Ice
Tajín or coarse salt
Lime wedges, mango slices, or jalapeño slices
½ cup Water (for simple syrup)
½ cup Granulated Sugar (for simple syrup)
½ small Jalapeño, thinly sliced (for simple syrup)
Instructions
1. For the Jalapeño Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, mix together the water, granulated sugar, and thinly sliced jalapeño.
2. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring gently until all the sugar has completely dissolved. Do not let it boil vigorously.
3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the jalapeño slices steep in the syrup for about 15-30 minutes, depending on your preferred heat level.
4. Once steeped, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the jalapeño slices. Let the syrup cool completely before using. You can make this ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to two weeks.
5. To Rim Your Glass: Grab your favorite serving glass. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of the glass to moisten it.
6. Pour some Tajín (or coarse salt) onto a small, flat plate. Gently dip the moistened rim of the glass into the Tajín, twisting slightly to ensure an even coating. Set the glass aside.
7. To Combine and Shake: Grab a cocktail shaker and fill it about two-thirds full with ice.
8. Pour in the tequila, orange liqueur, mango nectar (or puree), fresh lime juice, and your homemade (or store-bought) jalapeño simple syrup.
9. Secure the lid tightly on the shaker. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and frosty.
10. To Serve: Fill your prepared, rimmed glass with fresh ice.
11. Remove the lid from your cocktail shaker and strain the chilled mixture into your ice-filled glass.
12. Add a fresh lime wedge, a slice of ripe mango, or a thin jalapeño slice for a beautiful and flavorful garnish. Your amazing spicy mango margarita is now ready to be enjoyed!
Notes
Adjust heat by steeping jalapeño syrup for less or more time. For extra spice, leave some jalapeño seeds or muddle fresh jalapeño directly. Always use fresh lime juice for best flavor. This recipe can be batched ahead of time for crowds. Try variations like a smoky twist with mezcal, adding pineapple or passion fruit, or blending for a frozen margarita. A mocktail version can be made by omitting alcohol and adding sparkling water. Serranos can be used for sharper heat. Best enjoyed fresh; pre-mixed liquid can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days.
